Women empowerment

Women empowerment refers to the activities undertaken to improve the social, economic, and political status of women in the world. Economic empowerment is central to women’s ability to overcome poverty, cope with shocks and improve their well-being. Women’s empowerment can only be brought about when women are made aware of their rights.ESSD  aim to promote sustainable rights-based approaches to building capacity, improving livelihoods and health.

ESSD attaches high priority to improve the quality of life and status of women through a number of activities, such as:

  1. Priority of women in program implementation

  2. Skill training health care

  3. Income-generating support

In order to reinforce its exiting gender related programs and activities and also to be able to focus special attention.

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus.

Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment.  Older people and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illnesses.

The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is to be well informed about the COVID-19 virus, the disease it causes, and how it spreads. Protect yourself and others from infection by washing your hands or using an alcohol-based rub frequently and not touching your face.

To prevent infection and to slow transmission of COVID-19, do the following:

  • Wash your hands regularly with soap and water, or clean them with an alcohol-based hand rub.

  • Maintain at least a 1-meter distance between you and people coughing or sneezing.

  • Avoid touching your face.

  • Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.

  • Stay home if you feel unwell.

  • Refrain from smoking and other activities that weaken the lungs.

  • Practice physical distancing by avoiding unnecessary travel and staying away from large groups of people.

The COVID-19 pandemic in Bangladesh is part of the worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The virus was confirmed to have spread to Bangladesh in March 2020. The first three known cases were reported on 8 March 2020 by the country's epidemiology institute, IEDCR. Since then, the pandemic has spread day by day over the whole nation and the number of affected people has been increasing.
